, you might have developed awareness about the areas in your life that need focus and support.
Let’s dive a bit deeper now.
Let’s take a look at how a small step you take towards health through the life wheel can impact other areas of your life. In this article, we will cover:
- A brief look at the life wheel
- An example of how focusing on “sleep” in the health section of the wheel can create changes
- At the end of the article, you can try the suggestions under the title “For Better Sleep”
Life Wheel
The life wheel is a fun and thought-provoking tool to look at your life from a bird’s-eye view. It helps to assess your “satisfaction” in key areas of your life. We rate this feeling on a scale of 1 to 10. “1” means I’m not satisfied at all; “10” means everything in this area of my life is perfect.
For example, when evaluating your financial situation, you may have 3 million TRY in your account, but you might think you need another 2 million to establish your dream organic farm. In this case, you might rate your satisfaction at a 6. Then, the coaching process continues with the question “What would you like to happen?”.
After taking a brief look at the life wheel, let’s now work a little bit on the wheel.
What Does Health Really Mean?
As we mentioned in the previous article, health is not just about not having a cold or a chronic illness. Health; it’s the state of being well as a whole, with the body, mind, and spirit in harmony.
Let’s say your health satisfaction level on the wheel is 4.
You’ve rated it as 4 because of problems like not waking up refreshed, struggling to fall asleep, constantly having tasks running through your mind, not being able to focus on a task, joint pains, or not being able to go to the bathroom regularly.
Now, imagine you’re working with a coach and focusing on “sleep”. After some time, you’ve found your rhythm, learned what quality sleep means, and you wake up feeling energized in the morning. You feel like a fully charged phone.
Possible Changes in Mental Development Areas:
You wake up with a fresh sense of joy and gratitude. You start your day slowly because you wake up earlier and the house is quiet.
Family/Friends and Romance/Love Areas:
Since you wake up early, you’re able to experience small but meaningful moments like hugging your partner or breathing in the scent of your child’s sleep. You also have the energy to send a message to a friend saying, “I miss you, let’s have tea this week?”.
Fun/Hobbies:
You have the opportunity to pursue a hobby you’ve wanted to do for a long time. For example, you’ve always wanted to paint, and now you dedicate one hour a week to painting. With your energetic and refreshed state, the same 24 hours feel longer to you.
Physical Environment:
You handle household chores more easily and without complaint. Maybe you’ve started simplifying your life by reading the book **”Declutter, Organize, Relax to Simplify Your Life”**.
Career and Finances:
Since your mind is clear and your energy is high, you start your work with more focus. This makes you more flexible, constructive, and peaceful. Your reactions change, your perspective becomes wider, and more compassionate.
The above is just an example; responses and areas of development may vary for each individual.
Suggestions for Better Sleep
- Write down the thoughts that keep running in your mind. It’s a great way to park them!

- Do meditation before bed. Just focus on your breathing.
- Take a warm shower; it provides both mental and physical relaxation.
- Do a few simple stretches to relax your muscles.
- Go to bed on an empty stomach.
- Dim the lights in your home.
